Michigan reports 2,157 new COVID-19 cases, 17 deaths Friday

The Michigan health department reported 2,157 new cases of COVID-19 and 17 new deaths Friday.
Michigan now has a total of 546,468 confirmed cases and 14,070 deaths since March.
As of Thursday, the state has shipped 1,096,225 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and has administered 642,111 doses - 58.5% of those shipped.
Michigan had a positivity rate of 5.07% Thursday, reporting that 2,208 of 43,532 diagnostic test results returned were positive.

The state has a fatality rate of 2.6% among known cases, according to data from the state health department.
Michigan now reports 48,452 probable COVID-19 cases and 881 probable deaths. The probable cases combined with the confirmed cases make up a cumulative total of 594,920 cases and 14,951 deaths.
